Light Absurd Clarity
One day about three years ago, I said something a little nutty to my artist partner, and we both started laughing out loud.
"I don't know what made me say that, but it's f*cking funny. This would make a good cartoon," I said.
"What would?" he said.
"This would," I said.
We don't sit and come up with ideas. The ideas come from strange exchanges in our not-so-regular conversations or just observing the ridiculous. It's only a matter of time before something is said, and then there it is. I start my thought salad and fill pages full of words and phrases …and this begins a process that usually leads to a funny line and a quirky drawing. We call it Two is a Vibe. Gary is a good muse and a fantastic artist. He's eccentric and hilarious and absurd, but he has no idea that he is. That's why everyone loves him. We view the world entirely differently most of the time. We laugh at the same things, but probably for different reasons. We have many odd conversations.
Our cartoons have adapted and evolved. We have recently started a new series called Howl. The first one is a little intro for polygorgeous.
I've partnered with an artist. I'm his agent, and we collaborate on cartoons. My opinion is genuinely appreciated.
Sometimes.
